There’s no denying Jackson Hole is a winter and summer destination. But that doesn’t mean springtime isn’t a great time to be in Jackson. Spring or “the off-season” as locals like to refer to it as is one of Jackson Hole’s best kept secrets. It is prime time to enjoy the area without the crowds. Here are a few of our favorite springtime happenings:
Enjoy National Parks
The parks are open year-round, but some of the main roads in and out are closed during winter time, and re-open again in May. This means in April locals love to bike and walk the main road in Grand Teton National Park before the park opens in May. But May is the perfect month to visit the national parks to take in the scenery and wildlife. The mountain views, wildflowers and emerging or returning wildlife will not disappoint.
May means live music, theatrical entertainment, arts and crafts, delicious food, rodeo events, and much more with the 10 day festival in Jackson Hole celebrating Western culture, Old West Days. This festival, which includes Elkfest, brings a variety of spectacular spring events to Jackson Hole loaded with family fun and Western tradition. Not to mention, Jackson was recently named a best place to visit in May by Travel + Leisure in part due to Old West Days.
This year, Old West Days just got bigger and better with the announcement of the new “Million Dollar Music Fest” presented by The Cowboy Bar and co-sponsored with the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce. Midland, the reigning Academy of Country Music “New Vocal Group of the Year,” will perform a free big-stage concert on Jackson Hole’s famous Town Square on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Eat Out (For a Cause)
Many restaurants in the area offer buy-one-get-one-free specials this time of year. With less crowds, locals and visitors alike take the opportunity to dine out. Even better, several of Jackson Hole’s eateries are helping to fundraise for the community too by giving back for every entree purchased.
Whether it be the events or enjoying the mountains, springtime is a great time to be in Jackson. If you are interested in learning more about the Jackson Hole lifestyle, we would love to chat. Please reach out with any lifestyle or real estate questions.
